NavyYard as Attending Surgeon, where he served untilassigned to a three years tour of special duty on theTallapoosa in 1879. He was on the ilagship Lancas-ter from [884 to 1887 on the European and SouthAtlantic stations, and on the Dolphin from 1S93 to1S96. During the vSpanish War he applied for activesea duty, but his services were deemed so essentialin Washington that he could be spared only tomake a brief voyage to Cul)a on tlie ambulance shipSolace.
