A highly skilled craftsman shaping a highly-polished colored semi-precious stone for a Pietra dura or pietre dure called parchin kari in his small workshop at Agra in Uttar Pradesh, India. This decorative art is an inlay technique using cut and fitted highly-polished colored stones to create images for Indian table tops and other furniture. This technique has been preserved for hundreds of years and was employed to inlay the semi-precious jewels on the exterioir of the Taj Mahal, Agra, India
