Such treatment, re-gardless of the temperature of the water, is most favorable to the pro-duction of cracked heels. Not only that, but it takes the natural oilfrom healthy hoofs and leaves them dry and brittle, susceptible to everyhoof trouble known. In fact, the soaking of any part of the body, skinor hoofs, with water has a deleterious effect. The pressure caused by thecontraction of the tissues on the application of cold water, ice or anyrefrigerant lotion, checks the normal action of the capillaries and ar-rests all vital action, so that no benefit is gained in acute inflammation,for which it is generally used. THE most economical and effective means of administeringGILES, either by the mouth, nostrils, rectum, vagina or ure-thra, is by use of a 2-ounce syringe with a point or nozzle sixincnes in length.
