The Pleasure Beach 'Big One' Rollercoaster opened 28 May 1994., at a cost of £12 million. It is billed as a 'megacoaster' or 'hypercoaster' with the highest point being 65m (213ft) above the ground and the first drop being 62m (205ft) long, with an incline of 65 degrees (background view). The ride's trains, each capable of carrying 30 people, travel at speeds reaching 74 mph (119 km/h). Three trains can travel at any one time. When opened, the 'Big One' was the tallest and steepest rollercoaster in the world, and one of the fastest. It remains one of the longest, the ride, lasting three minutes, being 1675m ( ft) from start to finish. A view looking south from a beach with rolllercoaster reflections.
