Six pairs of these birds were sent to Kalispell and placed in the hands ofMrs. John Kennedy, an experienced breeder of fine poultry. Two of the birdsreceived by her died, but from the five pheasant hens remaining she raised onehundred and fifty pheasants, and had a number of late eggs from which perhapsfifty more birds might have been raised, but it was not deemed advisable to bringthem out. Mrs. Kennedys facilities in the way of suitable ground for the birds are. In Ambush too small for raising pheasants in large numbers, as the same was comprised inone city lot; but she met with good success, and seemed to have no more troublethan with domestic poultry. The young birds ate all the potato bugs on herplace, hence the pheasant should prove a valuable asset to our farmers. Of the birds so raised by Mrs. Kennedy fifty were planted on two islandsin Flathead lake, Shelter Island and Cedar Island.
