View NW of St Petrock's Church, Parracombe Churchtown, Devon, England, UK: C12th Norman origins (base of tower 1182), tower & chancel rebuilt 1252, nave reconstructed, S aisle & porch added c. 1500. Saved from destruction in late C19th by a national appeal led by John Ruskin. Clearly an Early Christian site, but the tradition that here was built the first church in Devon by St Petroc with his own hands is unlikely (Petroc died in Cornwall 4 June 564).
