Darryl Roberson, Air Education and Training Command commander, from Joint Base San Antonio, Texas speaks during the Distinguished Flying Cross medal ceremony at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, Jan. 13. Roberson awarded the medal to MSgt. Gregory Gibbs, 512th Rescue Squadron operations superintendent, who as an aerial gunner assisted in saving the lives of nine personnel during a 2011 rescue mission in Afghanistan, the fourth deadliest day for military at the time.
