Woman in the costume of Bolbec. Tradeswoman in blue dress, lace shawl and bonnet. Bolbec is a town seven leagues from le Havre with a population of 5,500. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
