A portrait of H G Lowe, survivor of the Titanic disaster. --- Commander Harold Godfrey Lowe RD, RNR (21 November 1882 – 12 May 1944) was the 5th officer of the RMS Titanic. He was asleep in his quarters when the ship hit the iceberg at PM. Following the event as one of the officers assigned to lifeboats, he organised many of the boats into a flotilla and directed them away from the sinking ship; but is said to have returned to pick up survivors after the Titanic had gone was made a commander in the Royal Naval Reserve during WWI.
