Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Andrew Nguyen, a native of Elk Grove, Calif., and a platoon commander with 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Division (MARDIV), swims 500 meters during a physical assessment on Camp Lejeune, , Aug. 3, 2021. The Marines of 2d MARDIV's experimental battalion underwent a physical assessment consisting of a 500 meter swim, a five-mile run and the Marine Corps’ obstacle course to establish a baseline for measuring success throughout the predeployment training program.
