I consider the adoption by them of astandard system of air brakes as a mostfinable service rendered the railroads ofthis country. It has rendered possiblethe use of brakes on freight cars whichcould not be had with different and con-flicting forms. Mr. Smith says: Is it good policy forrailroads to adopt any particular plan, and 1 everything to conform to that style?Certainly that is a stumbling block in theway of inventive improvement. The.
