Probably established around 1236 CE, St Edmund Hall - often known informally as Teddy Hall - claims to be the oldest surviving academic society to house and educate undergraduates in any university, and was the last surviving medieval academic hall at Oxford University After more than seven centuries as a men-only college, it became co educational in 1979. Here we see its rather cozy front quadrangle. Note the unusual medieval well on the beautifully manicured, lawn
