How to Make and Dress a Pair of Pincers. To make a pair of pincers, take a piece of %-iiichsquare steel which should be 75 points carbon, forgeand bend to shape as illustrated in Fig. 88, leaving thejaw the full width of the steel and tapering towardsthe cutting edge, but be sure and leave the jaw heavyand strong as indicated by a in Figure 88. After thejaw is bent to shape, strike the flat surface of the cut-ting edge a few good blow^s by placing the jaw on ^henarrow or flat end of the anvil.
