Eutamias quadrivittatus Colorado Chipmunk The Colorado chipmunk ranges widely in the central, southern, and western parts of the state, where it typically inhabits areas of broken rock and open coniferous woodland. Extreme elevations of specimens examined are Regnier, Baca County, about 4200 feet, and Red Mountain, 10,500 feet, Ouray County. Considerable confusion has arisen in the liter- ature because of superficial similarities in the appearance of Eutamias quadrivittatus, Eu- tamias umbrinus, and Eutamias minimus.
