The workers unloading these boats on the River Hooghly, Calcutta, are carrying clay on their heads. The clay is dredged from the river bed. It is then taken to the nearby Potters' Market in Kumortuli, where it is fashioned into likenesses of various deities for use in Pujas (religious festivals), both locally and around the world.
