They are a most beautiful breed ; fine handlers ; "a soft eye, an elegant crump horn, small ears (yellow within) ; a clean neck and throat; fine bones ; a fiae tail; and above all a well f )rmcd, capacious udder, with large, swelling milk ; For crossingon common stock a bull of no breed is more wonderfully impressive than a well-bred Jersey ; the first cross producing cows of enormous . milking capacity, with nearly as rich and high-colored cream as the thoroughbreds. In every community of butter dairies it will pay many fold f r farmers to club together and secure a thoroughbred Jersey bull, or bull calf, and if possible, one or more heifers. Prices of Jerseys, with pedigrees registered in the herd book of the American Jersey Catde Club (A. J. C. C. H. R.) : bull calves, 2 to 6 months old, ^40 to $65 each ; bulls, I to 3 years old, $85 to $150 each. Heifer calves f-jo to $90 each. Heifers and cows in calf ^125 to ^200 each. Prices of thoroughbred Jerseys of undoubted purity, but not entitled to registry : bull calves ^125 to $40 ; hei- fer calves ^35 to $50; bulls $60 to ^7:5 ; heifers in calf $90 to $125.
