Bladder cancer surgery. Surgeon performing a transurethral resection of a bladder tumour (TURBT) on a patient with cancer of the bladder lining (transitional cell carcinoma). The surgeon is viewing the inside of the bladder (on screen) through an endoscope inserted in the patient's urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body. The wire loop, which is passed through the endoscope, is used to remove the tumour. This is minimally invasive, or keyhole, surgery and requires minimal aftercare.
