A magnate's sabre, Transylvania, mid-19th century Lightly curved single-edged blade of the 17th/18th century, used to make this later sabre. Fullers on both sides, the point pitted. High quality decorative etching with the moon and sun on the upper third of the blade. The obverse side displays a half-portrait with the text cartouche "Georgius Racoci Princeps Transylv", and the reverse side the mottos "Non est currentis neque volentis sed miserentis det" and "Soli deo gloria", above the inscription "Anno Dom: 1631".
