Crafts, vice-president and general manager ofthe Iowa & Illinois Railway, Davenport, la., has resignedthat position to become manager of the Mobile Light &Railroad Company, Mobile, Ala. Mr. Crafts beganwork in a small powerhouse when he was sixteenyears old. His first impor-tant position was that ofnight foreman of the Haw-kins Street station of theBoston (Mass.) EdisonCompany. After about twoyears service with theBoston Edison Company heresigned to become elec-trician of the Brookline(Mass.) Gas Light Com-pany, in charge of gen-erating apparatus, meters,. after successfully passing P. P. Crafts an examination for elec-trician of the Charleston Navy Yard, he entered the em-ploy of Stone & Webster. During the period he wasemployed by the latter company his work included theinspection of heavy maintenance, and the reorganizationof power house operation, testing and other practical engi-neering work. Subsequently he reorganized the operatingdepartment of the Brockton & Plymouth Railway, Brock-ton, Mass. Just prior to his leaving Stone & Webster was appointed receiver of the Minneapolis (Minn.)International Electric Company. In 1902 he resigned asreceiver to become general manager of the Saginaw Val-ley Traction Company, Saginaw, Mich., which position heheld until 1904, when he was appointed general managerof the Iowa & Illinois Railway. At the time of the pur-chase of the last-mentioned property by the United Light &Railways Company, in February, 1913, Mr. Crafts was re-tained as vice-president and general man
