Grigorij Richters (born 1987), German film-maker and activist and co-founder of Asteroid Day. A near-Earth asteroid is on the screen behind him. Richters directed the film '51 Degrees North' (2014) about asteroids striking the Earth. Richters then co-founded Asteroid Day in December 2014, a day dedicated to raising awareness around the world of the threat of asteroids impacting the Earth. Asteroid Day takes place on 30 June every year, the anniversary of the 1908 Siberian Tunguska event. Photographed on 9 February 2016 at a European Space Agency (ESA) press conference at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) technical centre in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
