On the motion of Alderman EDMONDSTONE, seconded by Alderman STEPHENS, the Town Clerk read the draft of a petition prepared for the consideration of the meeting, after which Alderman HOCKiNGS moved, and Alderman EDMONDSTONE seconded, the following resolution, which was carried unanimously-That this Council recognises the urgent necessity for the immediate procuration of a steam dredge ; but there being no evidence before it as to the decision of the Executive Council on the tenders last called for, it is resolved to adjourn this meeting until Friday, the 21s. inst., at three o'clock. The Council then rose.
