Light micrograph of a melanoma, the most deadly of all skin cancers, which is strongly linked to acquired mutations caused by exposure to UV (ultraviolet) radiation in sunlight. The tumour is formed by strands of spindle-shaped malignant cells with variable amounts of melanin.
