The lines from the relief valves com-bine into one 18-in. atmospheric line whichpasses through the division walls and thencethrough the roof. The exhaust lines from thesmall exciter engines and the pumping ma-chinery combine into one 8-in. line, connect-ing to the feed-water heater with a by-pass,extending above the boiler room roof into aLyman exhaust head. About 150 ft. west of the power house onthe banks of the river is located a cold well15 ft. in diameter, in which are located footvalves for the main and auxiliary suctionlines. These lines are formed of 14-in. cast. SWITCHBOARD EXCITER AND ROTARY IN POWER HOUSEAT STRYKER, OHIO the above, there are two small single vacuumpumps used to drain the vacuum oil sepa-rators, and a steam-driven oil pump to elevatethe engine oil from the filter and tanks to theelevated supply tanks. The entire pumpingand condensing equipment is of the Deanmake. Near the boiler-feed pumps in theboiler room, is a 1500-hp open feed-waterheater of the standard Cochrane design. The arrangement of the piping is made onthe unit system, so as to permit of extensionof the power plant without any rearrange-ment. The main steam header is supportedbetween the boilers and division wall on steelbeams and rollers, and is 14-in. pipe with ex-tra heavy valves and fittings. On each boilernozzle is located an automatic stop and checkvalve, and in addition there is a gate valve ineach boiler lead at the header, and a stopvalve in the line to each engine. Steam istaken for the engines at the bottom of theheader,
