They areheld in place by a 1-in. bolt extendingthrough from side to side as shown. In order to prevent the top of the legsof the U piece from springing in underthe pull of the bolt a 154-in. square bar isdropped into shallow slots on the insideof each leg, and which thus serves as astrut at the top.
