In the First World War, it was on the eastern front, and from February 1916 until the end of the war, it was in the Isonzo battlefield. In May 1916, as a lieutenant of engineering units, he captured the Casa Ratti fortress, and in September of the same year he threw out Italian military positions on Monte Cimone near Arsiero, and in October 1917 he also destroyed the fortresses at Kal in the Krn Mountains
