Whereas^ It is desirable that there should beadequate celebrations commemorative of theevents of Colonial History happening from thesettlement of Jamestown, Va., May 13, 1607,to the battle of Lexington, April 19, 1775: Therefore, The Society of Colonial Warshas been instituted to perpetuate the memoryof those events, and of the men who, in mili-tary, naval, and civil positions of high trustand responsibility, by their acts or counsel, as-sisted in the establishment, defense, and preser-vation of the American Colonies, and were intruth the founders of this nation.
