(From Nut- ting's descript^'on.) Gonosome. " Gonangia oblong-ovate, with lunate, sub-terminal aperture, borne on an unbranched phylac- togonium springing from the side of the base of the proximal hydrotheca of the hydrocladium; there are from one to fi.^e gonangia to each phylactogonium" (Nutting). Cladocarpus speciosus Verrill. Trophosome. Stem fascicled, distal portion simple, divided into long internodes, each with a hydrocladium from near the middle; hydrocladial internodes witli seven septal ridges; hydrothecae short, widening from base to mai'gin; margin with two rounded anterior teeth and four or five shallow teeth on each side; intra- thecal ridge low, straight, horizontal; supracalyc'ne nematophores and mesial, with crenulated margin, cauline nematophores four to each internode. (From Nutting's description.) Gonosome. " Gonangia not known, phylactogonia branched, arising from the side of the proximal hydro- thecae and not morphologically a modified mesial nema- tophore, the latter being present" (Nutting). No. 106. Cladocai-pus speciosus (after Nutting). Genus Pluhularia. Trophosome. Hydrocladia unbranched, pinnately arranged, each having more than one hydrotheca; hydrothecae with entire margin; all nematophores movable. Gonosome Gonangia without extra protection.
