In general, the iso- topic composition of DIC in Everglades waters were negative with a mean 6"C of (Meyers 1990). The 8"*0 of the water in all of the Florida Bay sam- ples ranges from — to + with a mean of (Table 1). The 6"C for all of the Florida Bay samples ( —) is higher than that reported for the Everglades (—6%c; Table 1). A time series of the mean d"C values for all stations in South Florida indicate a minimum in 1996 (Text-fig. 4). The mean 8'^0 for the Whitewater Bay and Ten Thousand Islands areas are positive and and , respectively (Table 1). In contrast, the mean 8'^C for both Whitewater Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands area is significantly negative with values of — and —, respectively (Table 1). These values are similar to those reported for the Everglades (Table 1)
