When the Metropolitan incline, which ia a doubletrack deck structure with four lines of plate girder-, supported ontransverse plate girders which re-t on two row- of steel columns, waalinilt it waa necessary to make a reverse curve at the east end because the necessary right- of way for a straight track could not h< secured at that tune. I he girder- carrying the curve-, however. were designed for the straight line location to which it waa intended.
