This basin is apparently separatedby a relatively low crest from that of a large glacier which,issuing from between Kangchenjunga and Jannu, joins itsterminal moraines to those of the Kangchen Glacier manymiles lower down the valley. This flat-topped crest con-nects with the western face of Kangchenjunga two terrificpeaks. I use the adjective advisedly. Thin, keen wedges,black or grey below, flinging down the sunshine from theiricy crests, they tower at either end of a curtain of preci-pices which rises vertically above the dark waves of themain glacier.
