The tapestry Abandoned Cottage on the Isle of Stroma, Caithness will then be displayed on DovecotÕs Tapestry Studio Viewing Balcony from Friday 24 November as part of an exhibition to highlight BenÕs apprenticeship. The tapestry Abandoned Cottage on the Isle of Stroma, Caithness will then be displayed on DovecotÕs Tapestry Studio Viewing Balcony from Friday 24 November as part of an exhibition to highlight BenÕs apprenticeship. The completed tapestry, which took Ben Hymers eight months to weave, depicts a watercolour by His Royal Highness painted in Scotland. HRH supported the project by generously giving permission for his watercolour to be translated by the apprentice. Undertaken as part of the Dovecot apprenticeship scheme, it represents growing UK support to teach and preserve fine art and craft skills in one of Western civilisationÕs oldest and richest art forms.
