The photos of the garden that the incumbant mayor of Orta had made as a part of his mayoral campaign to retain his office (he lost), floats on a pontoon at the foot of the Lago d'Orta, which empties into a little river that, to the astonishment of the ancient Romans, flows out of the lake to the north, which is where the Alps are located. Everyone since the Romans have scratched their heads wondering why, since everywhere else the local bodies of water empty in the logical direction: to the south.
