NYC, Snow-Covered Street Scene, 1914


Snow-covered street scene with two large towers (Madison Square Garden at left and Metropolitan Life Insurance Building at right) in background. Madison Square Garden, was an indoor arena, the second by that name, and the second to be located at 26th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Designed by Stanford White and built in 1890 at the cost of a half-million dollars. The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower is a landmark skyscraper located on Madison Avenue near the intersection with East 23rd Street, across from Madison Square Park in Manhattan, New York City. Designed by the architectural firm of Napoleon LeBrun & Sons and built by the Hedden Construction Company, the tower is modeled after the Campanile in Venice, Italy.
