He was severelyinjured by a premature explosion at one of his oil wells in 1879, and in 1880he sold out his interests and returned to Wisconsin; was a salesman in Water-town, Wis., 1880-82; was in the employ of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. PaulR. R., in Wisconsin, until 1889, when he located on a farm he had purchasedtwelve mijles north of Junction City, Wis.
