Norse goddess Freyja and the necklace Brisingamen
In Scandinavian Norse mythology, Freyja was the goddess of fertility, love and marriage, and light and peace. Her brother was Freyr. In this illustration. based on a painting by J. Doyle Penrose, Freja is putting on Brisingamen, the necklace that the dwarfs made for her. When Freyja wore the necklace, no man or god could withstand her charms.
