Climagest hormone replacement therapy (HRT) drug. HRT is used to treat the symptoms of the menopause by replacing female sex hormones. Climagest contains oestradiol valerate, a naturally occurring form of oestrogen, and norethisterone acetate, a synthetic form of oestrogen. HRT can also help to prevent osteoporosis. However, side-effects include an increased risk of thrombosis and some forms of cancer.
