For several years after his marriagehe was engaged in teaching school, his wife livingwith her parents at the time, at whose home his twoolder children were born. While thus situated hewas accustomed to walk home on Saturday to seehis family, returning on Sunday in order to be readyfor school Monday morning. As the walk for a goodjiart of the time was 20 miles each way, it is evidentthat at that period of his life no common obstaclesdeterred him from performing what he regardedas a duty. His wife was none the less consci-entious in her sphere, and with added responsibilitiesand increasing requirements she labored faithfullyin the perfo-mance of all her duties. They hadten children, one son and nine daughters. His son,Hon. Wm. W.
