South-western USA, seen from the International Space Station (ISS). North is at lower right. The foreground (mostly Utah) includes Great Salt Lake (lower right, clouds at far right) and forested (green) parts of the Rocky Mountains. The rest of Utah includes part of the Colorado Plateau (brown, bottom left), and part of the Great Basin (brown, lower centre). Beyond (centre) lies more mountains (green, running north-south) separated by deserts (brown): Nevada's Great Basin. Great Salt Lake is 125 kilometres long, and over 700 kilometres from the Sierra Nevada mountains (white, upper left) in California. The ISS orbits around 380 kilometres above the Earth.
