This Deer has also been called " Fallow Deer," " Down East Red Deer," Long-tailed," and " White-tailed Deer," and " Common Red ; But the last name has also been applied to the Wapiti, and the first does not long here at all, much confusion will be avoided if we drop both in the iresent connection. It may be distinguished from the Jumping Deer by its smaller size, smaller ears, and by its tail, which is very long and pure white throughout the under surface.
