Agriculture prospered,the lumber interests increased and shipbuilding flourished. A bank hadbeen established and thi ived: the town possessed a court house and jail:several churches were erected and the theological seminary had beenestablished. In the early thirties Bangor made rapid growth, land valuationsmaterially advancing and the era being one of great speculation. From1830 to 1S34 the population increased from 2808 to about 8000.
