In the May issue of the same musi-cal periodical a report appears from Albany also, whichreads : The New York Italian Opera Company madea visit to this city and gave a few performances at thetheatres. The first was on April 6th, when Rossinis LAssedio di Corinto was performed ; this was followedby Mose in Egitto, LInganno Felice, and the secondact of Eduardo e Cristina. The two first works wererepeated twice. The company also performed duringtheir stay Mozarts Requiem, and a selection from1 Mose in St. Pauls CHAPTER York. Accordingly, the first exhibition was a carefully-prepared and advertised event, in which the projectorstried to excel Philadelphia by exciting the desire ofmanufacturers of all kinds, artists, and inventors to berepresented. In regard to musical instrument-makersthe first committee set aside a gold medal at each ex-hibition for the best upright or cabinet piano, anotherfor the best horizontal or square, and a third for the best grand pianoforte.
