Revaxis combination vaccine. Revaxis vaccinates against diphtheria, tetanus and polio. It contains inactivated extracts of all organisms responsible: purified diphtheria toxoid (a toxin produced by the bacteria that causes diphtheria), purified tetanus toxoid and inactivated poliomyelitis virus, an inactivated form of the virus that causes polio. When injected, the vaccine stimulates the body's immune system to produce antibodies, but without causing an infection. The immune system can then respond quickly to future infections. It is a booster injection, usually given during childhood.
