Cormorant on the Rocks

A cormorant rests on the rocks at Portland Bill. Their plumage lacks waterproofing so it will often be seen perching on posts or rocks with its wings held out to dry. The cormorant breeds on cliffs and islands on sheltered coasts around Britain and Ireland. At times, especially in winter, it may be seen on estuaries, reservoirs rivers and nature reserves.
