Bomarsund Fortress, Åland Archipelago, Baltic Sea, Finland, 4 August 2018 Bomarsund Open Water Challenge is an annual open water swimming competition held in the Baltic Sea in the archipelago waters around the Russian 18th century Bomarsund Fortress. This year the event was also the Finnish Championship. The event was delayed because of huge lightning storms across the region.
