Belding's Ground Squirrel (Urocitellus balding), Mono County California USA
This ground squirrel is native to northwestern United States, from northeastern Oregon and part of Washington, north California, east to southwestern Idaho, north and central Nevada and northwestern Utah. It prefers high elevation alpine and subalpine meadows as well as sagebrush flats. This particular animal was found in the sagebrush at Bodie State Historic Park, California.
