In the following year Wil-liam Pitt, afterward Lord Chat-ham, wasmade prime minister of Eng-land. He persuaded the colonists to raise 28,000men, to these he added 22,000 regulars from Eng-land. He recalled Lou-dounand made General A-ber-crom-bie commander-in-chief.
