Antibiotics Research

A CDC microbiologist sets up a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test to detect drug-resistant pathogens, including CRE (Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae). Experts fear CRE may be the new "superbug," as the bacteria kill up to half of patients who get bloodstream infections from them (CRE Sepsis).
