Artificial insemination (image 3 of 9). Woman undergoing an ultrasound scan to check the maturity of her ovarian follicles prior to artificial insemination. This process is used when a couple cannot conceive naturally. Here, her ovulation has been induced by hormones so that her partner's semen can be introduced at the optimum time. This is AIH, artificial insemination using the semen of her husband or life partner. The semen will be injected into her cervix.
