Some discussion ensued, during which Vice-president Fetters announced that he had received a message from the Federation of Women's Clubs to the ef- fect that that body would like to coop- erate with the society, as the members were much interested in tlie opposition to the embargo and would like an oppor- tunity to interview senators and congress- men in Washington. On motion of Mr. Asmus, the president was directed to ap- point a committee of two local men, with Mr. Gude, to confer with these ladies and \lielp them in their approaching of the Jiigislators. ^^Ir. F'etters, Mr. Breitmeyer and Mr. ""Griide were appointed on this committee. At the request of Mr. Gude, the board, on motion of E. G. Hill, went on record as favoring national appropriations to the U. S. Department of Agriculture in the interests of horticulture and floriculture. The board discussed at some length ar- rangements in regard to the housing of the 1919 convention and trade exhibition and terms for leasing the Arcadia audi- torium. On motion of Mr. Totty, the local committee was given power to exe- cute a lease on^the terms offered. The rate for space ^n the trade exhibition was fixed at 4Q cents per square foot, as before.
