Red Shirt guards receive 'Sak Yan' during the occupation of Bangkok in Spring 2010

In Spring 2010 Red Shirt supporters of self exiled former PM, Thaksin Shinawatra, occupied a huge area of central Bangkok in an effort to oust the government of the Day led by Democrat PM, Abhisit Vejajiva. Amgst them were paid guards and armed militia. In the middle of the illegal encampment was a tent where monks tattooed the guards with invisible oil sak yan tattoos to protect them in any upcoming conflict with the Thai army. On May 10th the army finally went in and cleared the protesters from the city. 91 people from all sides died.
